How to use the decline button on Upsell.com | App Blocks | Shopify
The Decline button block allows customers to decline an offer within widgets that contain this block. This feature is available in several widgets, including the Bundle, Product Recommendations, and Product Upsell widgets and is available on the Post-Purchase pages within your store. Follow this guide to customize and configure the Decline button to optimize your store’s upselling strategy.
Accessing the decline button block
- Open the Upsell.com Editor
- Navigate to a widget on the post-purchase page that includes the Decline Button block, such as Bundle, Product Recommendations, or Product Upsell

Configuring the decline button
Button type
Choose from three button styles to fit your store’s layout and sales flow:
- Primary: Highly visible

- Secondary: The default decline button on the post-purchase page and we'd recommend you keep this as secondary. An alternative recommendation would be to select the 'plain' option, that follows.

- Plain: Minimal style with no obvious button appearance, suitable for a subtle approach

Customizing button text

Saving changes
After customizing the button, click Save at the top-right corner to apply updates.
Require second-click to decline
On one-click upsell (post-purchase) pages where this block exists, the Decline button has an additional Require Second Click option that can be enabled:
- Enable Second Click: Adds a second confirmation step to reduce accidental declines
- Customize the confirmation text to clearly communicate the action required
- When enabled, the button text will update upon the first click, and the customer must click again to complete the upsell

Behavior on click
- If no second-click confirmation is required, the customer will automatically move to the next page in the flow. (E.g. if this decline took place on Post Purchase page 1, they will move to Post Purchase page 2. If this decline took place on Post Purchase page 2 they will move to the Thank You page.
- If the second-click confirmation is enabled, the customer must confirm before the offer is added to their order. The behavior will then be as above - it will move the customer to the next page of the post-purchase flow.
