# How to set up Upsell.com quickly / first time setup / onboarding | Shopify

Congratulations! You've made the amazing decision to install Upsell.com and boost your store's revenue. Here's how to get started and set up the app for the best results.

When you reach the onboarding screen, you will have two options:

* **Quick Start (recommended)**- we will set things up for you and take you through a guided activation process
* **Manual** - you will land straight on our Flow Builder, where you will be able to see each page and step in your customers' purchase flow and decide which widgets to add and when. For a detailed guide on manual setup, please refer to [our manual setup article](https://help.upsell.com/en/article/how-to-use-the-flow-builder-shopify-120kpr5/)
* **Revert to legacy (not recommended)** - this option will take you back to the legacy version of Upsell.com. (Please note that this version is being deprecated in the coming months. No new bug fixes or features will be added, and it will no longer be supported by Shopify)

This article will cover the recommended **Quick Start**, which will take you through getting Upsell.com working on your Shopify store in 3 steps:

1. Select the maximum discount you wish to offer customers
2. Upsell.com will automatically create all the widgets and slots for you in the background
3. Add Upsell.com app blocks to the thank you page, order status page, post-purchase page, and (for Shopify Plus) to the checkout page

## Quick start process

### Set the maximum discount and relevant widgets

1. Select the **maximum discount** you would like to offer your customers - we will automatically distribute the discount percentages across different pages for maximum conversions

2. Select which pages you'd like to add Upsell.com widgets to. Either **select all** (Recommended) or click specific pages and set the widgets you want to add to the page

> **Note:** Only Shopify Plus customers will see the 'Checkout' widgets option

3. Click **Get Started**

### Add Upsell.com to the thank you page

We've created the widgets for you in the back-end so all that's left is to add them to the thank you page. 

To do that, you will need to add Upsell.com app blocks to your Shopify thank you page, through the Shopify editor. It is a quick process that takes less than a minute, and this section will take you through doing that.

1. Click **click here**, and you will be redirected to the Shopify thank you page editor

2. Click **Add App Block** at the bottom of the page

3. Select the first Upsell.com block- **Thank You Page Slot 1**

4. Click the **back button**

5. You will see the **Thank You Page Slot 1 **displayed within the Shopify editor

6. Move this Slot to the area where you want the widgets to be displayed. You can add and position further slots later by returning to this screen. Drag and drop functionality to the left-hand side of the app block will allow you to reposition it

7. Click **Save** in the top right-hand corner

8. Close the tab and return to the Upsell.com setup 

Upsell.com on your thank you page should now automatically show 'detected'. If it does, you can go ahead and click **Next** to move on to the next step. ✅

If it does not show 'detected', click **Check Status**. 

The status should display *Detected*. Once it displays *Detected* you can go ahead and click **Next**. 

If *Detected* is still not displayed then please repeat steps 1-7 here and check that you saved the Upsell.com app block to the thank you page. 

It is really important that *Detected* is displayed, in order for Upsell.com to display widgets on your thank you page.

### Add Upsell.com to the Shopify Editor in the order status page

Once again, we've created the widgets for you in the back-end so all that's left is to add Upsell.com to the order status page.

To add Upsell.com to your order status page, follow the same steps you did to add it to the thank you page:

1. Click **click here**, and you will be redirected to the Shopify order status page editor
2. Click **Add App Block** at the bottom of the page
3. Move your app block to the desired location
4. Click **Save** and close the tab to go back to the Upsell.com setup page

5. Make sure Upsell.com is *detected* on your order status page. Once it is, you can go ahead and click **Next** to move on to the next step ✅

### Set Upsell.com as your post-purchase app

Now, we need to assign Upsell.com as your post-purchase app so that Upsell.com can work its magic at post-purchase! 

This is a slightly different process than the other pages, but also take only a few clicks.

1. Click **click here** to bring up the Shopify Checkout settings
2. Scroll down to **Post-purchase page**
3. Select **Upsell.com** as your post-purchase app
4. Click **Save**
5. Close the tab and return to the Upsell.com setup

5. Make sure the post-purchase app shows 'Upsell.com'. Once it does, you can go ahead and click Next to move on to the next step ✅

### Add Upsell.com to the Shopify Editor in the Checkout page

|| Upsell.com widgets can only be used on the checkout page with Shopify Plus stores - this is a **__Shopify limitation__** that is Shopify-plan based


Once again, we've created the widgets for you in the back-end so all that's left is to add Upsell.com to the checkout page in exactly the same way as we did on the thank you and order status pages.

1. Click **click here**, and you will be redirected to the Shopify checkout editor
2. Click **Add App Block** at the bottom of the page
3. Move your app block to the desired location
4. Click **Save** and close the tab to go back to the Upsell.com setup page

5. Make sure Upsell.com is *detected* on your checkout page. Once it is, you can go ahead and click **Next** to move on to the next step ✅
